Nick donated blood, Jake watched and thought it was so cool.

Cat life -
The kids and I made a quick vet and dinner-to-go out of town trip with the cats. It was a learning experience for us all. The cats received their first round of shots and de-worm meds. Thankfully they slept the whole way home.
We used the bricks found in the yard to make a 3 bin composter. Each bin is about 5 X 5 feet.
Bishop Uncle John has done 3 or 4 funerals and now a wedding! Tuesday Grace and I went to support Charlie and Ken as my brother married them!
Friday morning Nick texted me on his walk to work saying there was a dead deer under the neighbor’s car.
The kids and I went to check it out.
All the neighborhood gathered and we investigated the situation. We think: there was a male deer fight in the Hunter’s front yard. There was blood on their porch and around their yard. A few of their car lights were broken and a car was scratched down the side. Around 2AM one of the kids heard something hitting the front door. There was a pretty good blood trail from the driveway, around the corner, to the deer under the car. The dead deer had a puncture wound in the lung area. There were clumps of fur and meat all along the blood trail as well.
It wasn’t long till our other neighbor who is a city worker came and picked up the deer to haul it away. They take all the dead animals and roadkill out to the sewer ponds and let the coyotes take care of it.
We think this big guy ⬇️⬇️ was the culprit because he was wandering the scene all morning. No friends during mating season.

FALL • NATIVE AMERICANS
Choctaw Village • by Francois Bernard
Grace: This Week I learned about Native Americans, that they believe that everything had a spirit. I like this because I really love nature and it helps you live. I think it’s cool that they had feathers in their hair. I also think it’s cool how they built their teepees and did chants around the fire.
Grace was setting out all of the North American animals, preparing for our Native American studies. She was doing it in such a way that it felt ceremonial.
We didn’t do a whole lot concerning Native Americans this week and I feel like it’s okay. It was such a neat thing reading books while listening to flute/nature music in the background. We also had a great discussion about caring for the earth as it really is a living thing that Jesus created for us. We watched movies about Pocahontas and Squanto. Next year we will be learning about John Smith - looking forward to that.

Nick: Jake what letter is this?
Jake: That’s a W, it has spikes!
The kids are always telling me they are bored and asking what they can do. I made a chart (on Canva), put it in a page protector and they can use a dry-erase marker to mark off what they have done while seeing what else they can do. We have had this for about 2 weeks now and it’s working really well. Grace has done everything twice now and it took her all day long. Jake likes to start with the shorter words like: math and science.
